HANSVILLE GREENWAY UPDATE
Have you been thinking about volunteering for the Hansville Greenway? We have just the job you. We have a need for three more stewards! The Greenway is divided into 17 stewardship areas with a volunteer steward assigned to each area. The primary role of an area steward is to periodically monitor their assigned area for appropriate visitor use, trail conditions, any needed trail maintenance, wildlife presence, any safety hazards, condition of plants and habitat, downed trees or limbs, and any vandalism. Stewards are encouraged to monitor their area at least once a month and provide a report to the stewardship manager. It’s from these reports that the trail maintenance projects are prioritized. It’s a fun and interesting way to get to know the Greenway areas throughout the year. For more information about being a steward go to Hansvillegreenway.org and click on Library where you will find the Stewardship manual.
If you would prefer to join us for periodic trail maintenance projects we could use your help with that as well. We will be happy to put you on a contact list to inform you of the various projects when we need help. You can decide when and if you want to participate. It’s also a good way learn more about our wonderful trail system.
Please come and join us at the next Greenway meeting October, 6th 7:00 pm at the Greater Hansville Community Center. There are no dues required to become a member. Check us out on our website, hansvillegreenway.org or visit us on Facebook.
