Hansville Greenway Update for June.

Hansville Greenway Meeting – June 1st
Annual Day of Caring – June 23rd

The United Way of Kitsap County’s 24th annual “Day of Caring” will be held June 23rd.  Come and assist the Greenway crew with a special maintenance project to upgrade the Alder Wetlands trail section located just off of Twin Spits Road near Norwegian Point Park.  We will clean off the trail and apply a new layer of gravel.  If you have a “drivers license” we could use your help driving a powered wheelbarrow or wielding a shovel or rake. Volunteers will meet at Norwegian Point Park at 9:00 a.m. and should be done by 1:00 p.m.  All volunteers that register will receive lunch and a very attractive tee shirt.

For more information on how to register for the “Day of Caring” or to become involved as a regular volunteer, join us at the June 1st Hansville Greenway Association meeting at 6:00 p.m. at the Greater Hansville Community Center at Buck Lake Park.  You can also go to our website, hansvillegreenway.org for a link to register for the “Day of Caring”.  You need to register in advance to get your free lunch and tee shirt..

Finally, we have had some warm sunny weather and any mud in some places on the trails has dried out.  Many of the migrating birds have come back for summer and the Greenway is truly green with blooming summer plants.

Just a reminder to keep your pets on lease and pick up after them with a Mutt Mitt.  If you use a Mutt Mitt, please dispose if it in a trash container or take it out of the Greenway.  Leaving it along the trail for someone else to pack out is not very considerate.  Also, gas powered bikes are not allowed.  A  big thank you to all of you who have made a tax deductible donation to the Greenway through the Greater Hansville Community Center.  It really helps the volunteers keep the Greenway trails in such good condition and a great asset to our community.
