As we begin the month of November you can usually expect to have a windy storm come our way and as usual it happened this year. It came quickly causing power outages and falling limbs and trees. The Greenway was not spared. There were numerous trees and limbs of all sizes littering the Greenway trails. Damage was throughout the 7 miles of trails.
The Greenway volunteers sprang into action and after a couple of days work by teams working in different areas of the trail system, the trails were cleared once again. In order to use a chain saw in the park, volunteers must be certified to do so by attending a parks department sponsored training session on the safety aspects of chain saw use. As a result there were certified chainsaw users on each team which made the job of clearing that much easier. Many thanks to all the volunteers that helped with the storm cleanup.
The next Greenway Association meeting will be held Thursday, December 6th,, 6:00 pm. at the Greater Hansville Community Center. This is our annual Christmas party so refreshments will be on hand. This is also our annual meeting with the election of officers for the coming year. The meeting is open to anyone interested in the Hansville Greenway and there are no dues to pay to become a member and be involved. If you have never come to one of our meetings, this is the one to attend. We are always looking for more friends to join us as volunteers to keep the Greenway enjoyable for everyone who likes a pleasant walk through a beautiful nature and wild life preserve. Come and join us!
