HANSVILLE GREENWAY UPDATE
More wind and more branches! Another wind storm that came through on March 1st caused more limbs, small branches and a couple more small trees to come down on the Greenway trails. The trail stewards and other volunteers got them cleaned up and out of the way in just a couple of days. Thanks to all that assisted by reporting them and helping with the cleanup.
There has been some very discouraging vandalism done to the bridge over Lower Hawks Creek. Someone with a hatchet chopped chunks out of the railings. What a malicious and senseless act and it is against the law!
We just received a shipment of new Hansviille Greenway caps. They are an attractive tan and charcoal with a colorful embroidered Greenway logo. They will be available for purchase at the April 7th Greenway meeting. The hats will also be available for purchase at the Hansville Grocery.
Big change at Norwegian Point Park! The dangerous old rotten deck as well as the wind damaged add on building at the back of the boathouse have been removed. The old rail launching system and three large bait tanks were removed and the rotten decking and broken concrete was hauled away to be recycled. Thanks to the volunteers: Howie O’Brien, Martin Adams, Fred and Jo Nelson, Bill Forester, Gary and Elise Erickson who worked during the 6 days of the demolition. Special thanks to Gary Erickson who did most of the work with his large excavator. We could not have accomplished it without him and his machine. A rail fence will be installed, more sand and a picnic table will be added to the renovated area in the near future..
Next meeting of the Hansville Greenway volunteers will be held at 7:00 pm April 7th at the Greater Hansville Community Center. Come and join us!
