As of May 7th
Even after our big push to clear all the blowdown last month, there are still occasional trees across the trail. If you find any, let us know. It’s a task that is never done, but we’re always trying to stay on top of it.
Wild flowers are out, so be sure to take your wildflower books out with you so that you can identify all the things you see.
Can’t remember where the trail number posts are located? Check out our map in the General Information menu item. Remember, you can always load the Maprika app on your smart phone and import the Hansville Greenway map. With GPS enabled, you should be able to find your way with no problem.
Want to report stuff? Want to volunteer to help? Just e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can contact Art at 360-638-0738 to make your report. You can also comment on our Facebook page.
We are short of able-bodied people to help with maintenance, so if you’ve ever wanted to volunteer your time for a really good cause, we’d love to have you. Any time you can contribute is really appreciated! And you’ll get bragging rights for working with us! There is no “required” amount of time for volunteers to work. We are just happy to get any help we can get.
Stay tuned for work on organized hikes through the Greenway. One was planned for May 11th, but since that is the day the Hansville Garden Club is holding it’s humongous garden sale, that just won’t work.
The planned Greenway guided hikes will be offered on the following dates:
June 1, July 13, August 17, and September 14th. They will start at Buck Lake parking lot at 9:00 and last two to three hours. The hikes are not difficult, but hikers should dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes. Take along any snacks you might want as well as drinking water. No water fountains in the woods!
Here are a couple of work parties that are planned:
The first is on May 7th at 1:00. We’ll be meeting at the trailhead on Cora Ave. and will work the trail from there up to Bear Meadow. Some brush trimming and grass mowing will be done. Shouldn’t take too long, as some of the brush cutting has already been done.
Next is the Friday morning work party. We’ll meet in the Buck Lake parking lot (south end, as the plant sale is being set up in the north end. We’ll be mowing the trail between Post #3 and Bear Meadow. Some work is also need with the string trimmers and hand loppers. We provide the mechanical equipment.
